Scale is getting its world premiere at Unlocked Shoreditch this summer
For the last twelve years, photographer Kane Hibberd has travelled the world exploring the relationship between musicians and their instruments. He’s met with 100 iconic musicians and asked them to share the secrets behind their most cherished guitars, which he has photographed, front and back at 1:1 scale. Finally, his labour of love is now out in the world (he shared nothing of the project for its entire duration) with the Scale exhibition at Unlocked Shoreditch.
The high-resolution, life-sized images show every scratch, ding and chip on the instruments and are accompanied by stories behind their existence and the contributions they have made to the history of music. Paul McCartney’s iconic Höfner bass, Dave Grohl’s Gibson Trini Lopez, Keith Urban’s Fender Broadcaster, Joan Jett’s Melody Maker, Kevin Parker’s Rickenbacker, and one of Ed Sheeran’s signature loop-pedal acoustics are just some of the hundred instruments on display at Scale.

This exhibition offers a rare and intimate look at the instruments that have created some of the defining music of our time, so all you music fans and guitar obsessives won’t wanna miss it.
