One of my favourite things to do on a crisp Sunday morning in autumn is to take a long walk past the river Thames.
The north bank of the river is always a great place for a stroll.

Of course you can walk past the the Bankside in Westminster, but for a bit more tranquility, I personally prefer the Chelsea embankment, between Chelsea Bridge and Albert Bridge.

If you really want to take in the autumn foliage it’s best to do this around mid November. The trees along the embankment are called London planes.
And for some reason they’re always the last trees to let go of their green leaves. And when they go brown it’s always a bit patchy.
This is what I mean..

As you can see, some leaves are still green, some of them brownish and some of them have completely gone already. So it can be a real hit and miss when photographing these trees. It’s best to wait until the majority of the leaves have turned brown so they dominate the overall colour of the foliage, which is usually around mid-November.
And that leads to those iconic autumn in the city views, like these:

Isn’t that just perfect?
And that’s why the Chelsea Embankment is my absolute favourite place to walk around on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee.

Still in my trench coat, because even though it may be getting colder… it’s still not winter coat worthy.
I did however buy a new winter coat, so I might show it to you next week! I saw it is actually going to freeze then.

After passing Albert Bridge, it was time for a refill.
A short walk away from the Chelsea Embankment is Hagen. Who claim to serve the best coffee in town.

Quite a bold statement, so let’s take a closer look, shall we!
The place looks very cosy inside.

Sadly I’m still recovering from a bit of a tummy issue, so I went with herbal tea instead.

So whether they actually do serve the best coffee in town is a question I might need to answer in another post.
Or you might beat me to it! If you do so, let me know in the comments.
And then I went back to enjoy the rest of my Sunday.

I hope you had a good weekend !
